Highest point from Cochabamba to La Paz |
From Cochabamba, where we live to La Paz, there are about 300 km and we have to pass through the highest point on the road
at 4,496m....not the highest in Bolivia though. The road trip is extraordinary passing through the altiplano and looking
at the highest snow-capped peaks from Bolivia from the Andes Range - Cordillera Real.

Going to Lake Titicaca - crossing the channel by barge |
After a 7-hour drive from Cochabamba (on the road to La Paz) we arrive at Tiquina crossing point. The cars go on a barge
(here Ramiro and my brother with our pathfinder) and the passengers take a "speed" boat. Then, it is another hour
drive to Copacabana town on the shore of Titicaca Lake, Bolivian side.

Jesuit Mission 1660 |
Another trip we did with my parents, was go to the Chiquitania, where one can see the restored churches of the Jesuit Missions
- the only ones remaining in the world and which are now UNESCO World Heritage. It is a good 10 hour drive from Cochabamba
to the first mission, San Javier.
